Dr Michael Stapelberg is a General Practitioner with advanced training in Skin Cancer Medicine and General Practice Dermatology.
Michael graduated with Bachelor of Science with first class honours in Anatomy from the University of Queensland, which was followed by four years full-time research at the Dermatology Research Laboratories at the University of Sydney. He received the prestigious University of Sydney Postgraduate Award, investigating how sunlight damages the skin’s immune system and was awarded a postgraduate Doctorate (PhD) in Dermatology for this work.
Dr Stapelberg then further consolidated his research by undertaking a Post Doctoral Research Fellowship in cancer research at the world-leading Centenary Institute of Cancer Medicine and Cell Biology and then Griffith University while completing his Medical degree (MBBS).
Following his Medical studies, Dr Stapelberg began post graduate clinical training in Queensland at the Princess Alexandra, the Prince Charles, and Gold Coast University Hospitals.
He then completed his fellowship with The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and has focused on Skin Cancer Medicine and General Practice Dermatology by completing extensive coursework and qualifications through The Skin Cancer College Australasia. He has also completed the internationally recognised Diploma in Practical Dermatology from Cardiff University, UK.
Dr Stapelberg has published extensively in leading Dermatology peer-reviewed journals. This includes the Journal of Investigative Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery. He has presented at national and international conferences.
